Salem's Municipal Services is announcing a detour route to access the rear section of Pine Grove Cemetery starting on August 5, 2024. The rear section includes the burial sites for most full burials, including sections 9, 9A, 9B and 10. Cremation burials are unaffected. The detour is necessary as DPW staff works to replace a culvert along the access road.
Persons attending burials or visiting loved ones are asked to access these sections via Lou Ave.
The construction project will include replacing the existing culvert with a longer lasting pipe, installing new headwalls, roadway improvements, and installation of a new stone barrier to replace the existing wooden railing. The project is anticipated to start August 5th and be finished this year.
