The Town is pleased to announce updates on two significant projects - the Depot Intersection Project and the Former Wastewater Treatment Plant Remediation Update..

Depot Intersection Project

The Salem Municipal Services Department is excited to report that construction work at the intersection of Broadway (NH Route 28) and Main Street (NH Route 97), (the "Depot") was finally completed in 2023.

The final project made various improvements to the intersection, widened sidewalks, added decorative light poles and signals, and improved the landscaping and other streetscape aesthetics.

Former Wastewater Treatment Plant Remediation Update

The Town has continued critical environmental remediation work on the former Wastewater Treatment Plant parcel on 4 Sarl Drive with support from our engineering consultant GeoInsight, Inc.

These efforts include ongoing groundwater permit activities and thermal remediation of impacted soils.

The Town is also using electrical resistance heating, which is an intensive environmental remediation method that uses the flow of alternating current electricity to heat soil and groundwater. ERH work was completed in 2023 by the TRS Group, a leader in thermal remediation.
