2026 Revaluation Information
In 2025, the Town will begin the revaluation process in order to update all assessed values for 2026. The process will be similar to the 2021 process and additional information will be posted during the process. With a few exceptions, the first issued tax bill will be based on the 2025 value times half of the 2025 tax rate. The second (final) issued tax bill will be based on the 2026 value times the 2026 tax rate with credit applied for whatever has been paid previously.
State laws require towns to value anew at least every five years. The purpose of the revaluation is to determine the fair market value of every property in town and equalize the values of all properties for the purpose of a fair distribution of the tax burden.
A video of a discussion of the process between the previous Chief Assessor and the revaluation contractor is available.

Please note, property owners will be able to challenge their property values through informal hearings with Vision and abatements with the Town after the values are set and letters are sent out in 2026.
