2024 New Tax Rates - Press Release

The Town of Salem, New Hampshire will be mailing the second installment of its 2024 property tax bill in early November 2024. This bill is due on or before December 6, 2024. An 8% per annum interest charge for unpaid balances will be assessed for balances paid after the due date. Currently, electronic copies of the tax bills are available online through the town’s website: https://www.salemnh.gov/ 

The new tax rate for 2024, which is reflected in this December billing and established by the State of New Hampshire, is as follows, per $1,000:

The invoice, due December 6, 2024, will be mailed in a first-class envelope, which will include a return envelope for the taxpayer’s convenience. By using this return envelope, the tax payment will be sent directly to the Town of Salem’s bank for processing. The remittance stub from the bill must be included with the check to ensure payment application accuracy. PROPERTY OWNERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO UTILIZE THE RETURN ENVELOPE. 

PLEASE ALLOW EXTRA TIME WHEN MAILING TAX PAYMENTS TO ENSURE DELIVERY ON OR BEFORE THE DUE DATE. For homeowners who wish to receive a PAID receipt, please mail the entire bill with payment, and include a stamped, self-addressed, return envelope for the receipt. 

Town Hall is open to the public from 08:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday for in-person payments. Drop boxes are located on the front steps of Town Hall and on the south-facing side entrance for those wishing to hand-deliver payments. The drop boxes are checked frequently. Please, no cash. 

Property owners may also view and pay tax bills online by accessing our website at: https://www.salemnh.gov/
Click on “Online Payments” in the middle of the home page and choose “Tax Department – View/Pay Property Tax Bills”. A fee of 2.95% is assessed for payments made using a credit card. However, there is NO FEE for payments made by electronic funds transfer (EFT) from a checking or savings account. 

PARTIAL PAYMENTS ARE ALWAYS ACCEPTED! Please mail or drop off any partial payments directly to the Town of Salem, Attn: Tax Collector 33 Geremonty Drive, Salem, NH 03079.
